Back by popular demand, Musical Adventures, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s fun concerts for children aged 8-12. Everything from music from The Nutcracker and The Pines of the Appian Way to Star Trek Into Darkness and Harry Potter with a great big Sing-Along featuring the audience! Be warned – there may be dancing too…so get ready, get prepared and read on!

Journey from the past into the future, delve into worlds of magic and fantasy, stroll through exotic landscapes and fall into the ever-changing, other-worldly vividness of dreams.

Let Anna Clyne’s Masquerade transport you to a glamorous 18th-century ball or imagine what it might feel like to dance with toys suddenly come to life in Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

Not dramatic enough? Then why not pilot a starship in Michael Giacchino’s Star Trek Into Darkness, or delve into the magical fantasy of Harry Potter and the enchanted but dangerous realm of Peadar Townsend’s Landscape and Chase. Or march with a victorious Roman army return to the fabled ancient city in stirring splendour in Respighi’s The Pines of the Appian Way.

Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony for Strings offers a moving response to the terrible, wasteful suffering of war, Sibelius’ Valse triste a poetic, picture-filled evocation of a dream.

As in all Musical Adventures concerts, you too will perform. Get set and get prepared for Lin Marsh’s anthemic song Believe, uplifting and inspiring us one trusts in our own abilities. It’s easy…
