A special night to mark the 75th anniversary of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra! The best music from the worlds of film and musical theatre has been a central part of the orchestra’s eclectic repertoire over the years so what better way to celebrate the anniversary than to invite Aedín Gormley to bring to life her award-winning RTÉ lyric fm radio show Movies and Musicals. The RTÉ CO is joined by its Principal Guest Conductor Stephen Bell and knock-out performers Tim Howar of Mike + The Mechanics and Juliette Crosbie for an evening of favourites ranging across the decades of the orchestra’s lifetime. Music from MGM classics Singin’ in the Rain and An American in Paris, Rodgers and Hammerstein evergreens The Sound of Music and South Pacific, from West Side Story to Wicked, John Williams and John Barry, Elmer Bernstein and Ennio Morricone, Disney and Pixar’s Frozen, The Incredibles and Beauty and the Beast right up to Dear Evan Hansen and Mary Poppins Returns.
