CLOSING DATE IS FRI 9 FEBRUARY and auditions will be held on Fri 23 / Sat 24  February (groups) and Sunday 25 February (solo call-backs)

About Us..

RTÉ Cór na nÓg was formed in 1987 and currently has 70 members, boys and girls aged 10 and upwards from all parts of Dublin and surrounding counties. Music Director Mary Amond O’Brien and her team (Jennifer McMahon: music assistant, Carole O’Connor: pianist) provide excellent musical training with a strong emphasis on the enjoyment of music-making as well as the hard work and commitment required. Our unique relationship with RTÉ leads to varied and exciting performance opportunities with regular broadcasts on national radio and television, and collaborations with artists of the highest calibre.

In recent years we have sung for RTÉ lyric fm, RTÉ Radio 1, the Late Late Show, Mass on Sunday and Fair City, performing with artists such as Andre Rieu and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in venues like the National Concert Hall, Bord Gais Energy Theatre, St Patrick’s Cathedral and Dublin Castle.

 

We rehearse twice a week during term time – Wednesdays from 5.30-7pm and Saturdays from 10am-12noon, usually in RTÉ, Donnybrook, and members are expected to attend both regularly. Concerts and events take place throughout the season, which normally runs from late August to mid-May.
The choir is usually divided into several vocal-line parts – Soprano 1 and 2’s ,  Alto’s , and a small newly formed Tenor section for boys who’s voices have broken.

 

We know it’s a big family commitment but year after year families return and many members go on to make music a vital and enjoyable part of their lives. Some join the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir for example, others taking their voices with them world-wide wherever they live or work!
