Highlights at the National Concert Hall will undoubtedly include five concerts with our fabulous new Principal Guest Conductor, Nathalie Stutzmann, a major international figure in her parallel careers as both contralto and conductor. Highlights of her first season will include Beethoven symphonies One, Five and the ‘Choral’ Ninth, the Mozart Requiem with Irish singers Máire Flavin and Robin Tritschler amongst the soloists, and Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the major international cellist Alban Gerhardt as soloist.

The riches continue with major names including conductors Joshua Weilerstein, Harry Bicket and violinist and conductor Nilolaj Znaider; Carlos Kalmar conducting the phenomenal singer and Pink Martini solo artist Storm Large in Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins; Leonard Bernstein celebrations (Chichester Psalms with Joana Carneiro conducting the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir and Alexander Shelley conducting the Overture to West Side Story and Prelude, Fugue and Riffs as part of an all-American evening); a host of international artists including Alexander Toradze performing Shostakovich’s second piano concerto, Khatia Buniatishvili performing Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto; a new Concerto for Organ by Gerald Barry, RTE’s Composer-in-Residence; and a first performance of the complete Piano Concerto by Deirdre Gribbin, The Binding of the Years with Finghin Collins as soloist.
