New Principal Flute RTÉ Concert Orchestra

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra welcomes its newest member, Lithuanian flautist Silvija Ščerbavičiūtė, who has been appointed Principal Flute. Originally from Vilnius, where she attended the National M.K.Ciurlionis School of Music, Silvija studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and then at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating in 2017 with a First Class honours Bachelors degree and the Regency Award for Notable Achievement. She also won the prestigious Patrons Award, which resulted in a solo recital at Wigmore Hall. SIlvija has since enjoyed a busy freelancing career, performing  as guest principal flute with Oslo Philharmonic, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Hallé, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia and as principal piccolo with English National Opera and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also been a regular guest with the Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta and London Mozart Players. In 2017-2018 she held the flute position at the London Philharmonic Orchestra Future Firsts Academy and Southbank Sinfonia.
