November 2020 with RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra LIVE
Fridays 6, 13, 20 and 27 November
The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce four Friday evening concerts taking place in November as part of RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra LIVE. All concerts take place at 7pm.
They include two of the finest works for string orchestra in the classical repertoire, Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings (6 November); Mozart’s sacred motet Exsultate, jubilate, with soloist Claudia Boyle, alongside Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony (13 November); Sebastian Adams’ 2016.4, commissioned by RTÉ lyric fm and given its world premiere in 2017 by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, which takes the Overture to Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro as the starting point for a vital new work that aims ‘to evoke the same feelings as its model: an irrepressible sense of the joy of being alive!’ (20 November); and an evening of operatic favourites and romantic Neapolitan ballads with tenor Gavan Ring. (27 November). Conductors confirmed to date are David Brophy and Proinnsías Ó Duinn.
As with all concerts in this series, all performances will be live-streamed in HD on RTE.ie/Culture and broadcast live on RTÉ lyric fm.
Selected works from these concerts will feature on The National Symphony Orchestra In Concert, the Sunday morning series currently airing on RTÉ Ohttps://orchestras.rte.ie/whats-on/ne, Sunday at 10am and on the RTÉ Player.
