RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra to feature in new series on RTÉ One

The National Symphony Orchestra In Concert. RTÉ One, Sundays, 10am and RTÉ Player

RTÉ today announced The National Symphony Orchestra In Concert, a new Sunday morning series on RTÉ One featuring the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. Commencing on Sunday 18 October at 10am, this hour long programme will run for 10 weeks and will feature selected works from RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra LIVE, the orchestra’s current series at the National Concert Hall which is being live-streamed in HD on RTE.ie/Culture and broadcast live on RTÉ lyric fm. The concerts will also be available to view on the RTÉ Player

The opening programme this Sunday features Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 as performed on Friday 11 September. Works by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Fauré have been confirmed to date for subsequent programmes, along with works by Irish composers Arthur Duff, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin and Neil Martin. Artists featuring are conductors David Brophy, Gavin Maloney and David Young with soloists John Finucane and Mark Redmond.
