Lithuanian conductor Martynas Stakionis conducts the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in a lunchtime concert, the first in this August 2024 series, joined by Irish soprano Ava Dodd.

Stakionis debuted with the Kaunas State Philharmonic in 2014 and has since appeared with the Frankfurt Alte Oper, Mozarteum Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony, Baltic Sea Philharmonic, Lithuanian National Symphony, Lithuanian National Opera Symphony, Kremerata Baltica, and Lithuanian Chamber orchestras. With Stakionis at the helm, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will perform classical overtures such as Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Strauss’ Die Fledermaus Overture.

Romantic classics include Janáček’s Adagio for orchestra, JW 6/5, and Chabrier’s Danse slave from the opera Le Roi malgré lui.

Winner of the Yves Paternot Prize at the 2023 Verbier Festival and of the Boston District Met Opera/ Laffont Competition, Irish soprano Ava Dodd, will join the Orchestra for Qui la voce from Bellini’s I Puritani, Vilja from Lehár’s Die Lustige Witwe, and The Jewel Song from Gounod’s Faust.

Presented by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
