Brief Encounter with live – musicians!
The RTÉ Concert Orchestra is presenting a screening of Brief Encounter on Wednesday 13 February at the NCH. To set the scene, the leader of the RTÉ CO Mia Cooper and violinist Hugh Murray created a vintage mood in Heuston Station, Dublin.
Brief Encounter – David Lean’s 1945 black and white cinematic masterpiece – is often voted the most romantic film of all time on the big screen. It is the story of the chance meeting of a married doctor and a suburban housewife on a train platform. They inadvertently but quickly progress to an emotional love affair, which brings about unexpected consequences. The film brought to fame Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with its lush emotional landscape.
On Wednesday 13 February at the NCH, audiences have the chance to experience this romantic classic on the big screen while the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, pianist Michael McHale and conductor David Charles Abell bring the music to live on stage below.
